Sybille Krauer-Büttiker: South Africa
Until 1996 Sybille's main artistic direction was mainly pottery and drawing. Still, during her stay in Damascus, she was inspired to work with motifs from the Middle East, using colored collages and watercolors. Today, Sybille exclusively works with abstract and representational compositions of mixed techniques on canvas and paper using various materials such as tissue paper, salt, ash, ink, and sand.
Sybille was born in Southern Rhodesia, Zimbabwe, and during her travels, has studied in South Africa, France, and Kaiseraugst. She has also attended various drawing, painting, and pottery courses at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel. She has travelled to numerous places worldwide, including Malaysia, Thailand, India, Nepal, Persia, Turkey, the USA and around the Middle East.
She has trained as a kindergarten teacher in Ebnat-Kappel with additional training as a curative educator, before working as a kindergarten teacher in Saas-Fee, Pratteln, Olsberg / Giebenach, Kaiseraugst, Magden, and Rheinfelden, to then teaching part-time at the Heilpädagogische Schule Rheinfelden (2004 - 2013). Since 2014 Sybille deputies at Kaiseraugst, Magden, and Füllinsdorf, and also provides painting workshops for both children and adults.
Sybille has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions and has sold a number of pieces to collectors in Switzerland.
